2022 - ∞
Senior Data Scientist
Building state-of-the-art ML systems for Ocado Technology’s robotic operations. Led 2 projects as the Lead Data Scientist:
❖ Wireless Signal Strength Forecasting Project: We utilized machine learning algorithms and unique signal data from our bots to forecast wireless network coverage and foresee complications beforehand. This enabled us to optimize CFC designs accordingly and helped solving the antenna design problem.
❖ Crash Investigation Automation (SQL, Object Detection, and LLMs for Classification).

Data Scientist
❖ Created A/B test settings for bots and worked on optimizing several metrics using the needed number of bots /bot hours for these tests.
❖ A Wheel Slippage Control Problem: This involves removing a physical sensor and replacing it with a machine learning model that utilizes accelerometer data, motor torques, and other sensor readings. The aim is to effectively control and mitigate wheel slippage. The aim was to get rid of a very expensive encoder sensor and improve the accuracy of the current system. I was doing the Optimization Part of the project.

❖ Implemented RL algorithms / environments for Automated Stock Market Analysis for Dcipher Analytics
❖ Led an end-to-end multi class, multilabel machine learning project for Avalanche Risk Prediction funded by TUBITAK.

❖ Later on I became the Lead Software Engineer of a simulation project where I led a group of 15 people from mixed background (artists/professionals and Phds) to create a digital twin of Koç University.

SMSBOTU - Internet Access via SMS powered by LLMs

Discover SMSBOTU, an intelligent agent that brings internet information to your phone via SMS, powered by Langchain and OpenAI. Originally created to target turkish soldiers without smartphone access during their mandatory military service, it now aids many in Turkey who don't have daily internet but are in GSM coverage areas. SMSBOTU transforms your SMS into a simple, direct line to the information you need, without distractions.

MSc Thesis: Simulation-Based Reinforcement Learning for Social Distancing

Created epidemic simulation with RL environment, trained agents to learn social distancing & self-quarantine. Proved efficacy in flattening epidemic curve. Project received distinction & showcased on Unity.

Haptic Feedback Glove for Virtual Reality

The design of the vibrotactile hand interface for virtual reality project aimed users to feel the virtual object via tactile feedback on their hands and increase general sense of reality in Virtual Reality. Won Best Senior Mechanical Engineering Project in 2018-2019

KU-TWIN (Digital Twin)

I leaded the KARMA Lab's KU-TWIN project, creating a digital twin of Koç University. We used photogrammetric models and point cloud data to remodel all campus buildings, resulting in a VR experience with unique exploration possibilities such as time-travel and perspective-shifting. Our ultimate goal was to create a comprehensive digital twin of the university.
